Bacchus and Ariadne, Oil on Panel, Flemish School,16th Century

Oil on panel (oak?) Representing Bacchus and Ariane.
Ariadne, left by her lover Theseus on the island of Naxos, crosses the path of Bacchus on his chariot drawn by two leopards.
In the sky above the figure of Ariadne is the constellation of stars which will become the Corona Borealis
Louis XIV period frame in carved oak.
Flemish school of the second half of the 16th century
Or a Flemish painter who worked in Italy ( inscription Tiziano in the back.
The annotation in the back in ink "Tiziano" shows that the painter liked the painting of Titian on the same theme, commissioned by the Duke of Ferrara in 1520, and currently at the National Gallery, London.
